"Three generations of family farming has taught us that nature does not do well at fast food pace - great tasting, healthy food takes care and time to grow."

We are definitely fans of the Slow Food Movement.
We truly believe ours is Rare Lamb Well Done. Here's why ...

Rare Lamb
      ·     We don’t feed our lambs antibiotics or any of the additives commonly used to speed up growth. In  fact our breed is a slow maturer and that gives time for naturally intense flavour to develop. We think that’s a good thing!

      ·
We do take the time to age our meat on the bone. It’s a rare thing these days for meat to be aged on the bone over 5 days before being cut up, but that’s what it takes to give that old fashioned juicy tenderness.
      ·     Vacuum packaging means you can pop your lamb straight into the fridge or freezer without repacking. It will continue to slowly mature in the vacuum pouch and will be well protected from dehydration and freezer burn.
Note: As with all other perishables, your lamb must be kept refrigerated at all times at or under 4C to give the storage life we state on the pouch. If in doubt about the temperature of your home ‘fridge, treat it as you would any other meat you buy and consume or freeze over the 2 to 3 days after delivery.

Well Done

Our passion is to farm sustainably using Holistic Management principles. This means your lamb is grown using methods that are

  • Ecologically sound –Our goal is to leave “Taroona” in great shape environmentally for future generations. We strive to minimise our Greenhouse gas emissions and in 2004 were assessed as a   greenhouse sink (Google :Muffet Landcare Australia Meeting the Greenhouse Challenge)

  • Humane – We believe in free range farming under all but drought conditions and handling our animals with respect using low stress stock handling techniques.

  • Socially sound – It’s important to us that our lamb is a healthy, natural product our customers can eat with absolute confidence. We support our community by sourcing all our farm inputs locally and giving all involved a fair wage. Our dealings with others are ethical.

  • Economically sound – We must remain profitable so we can continue      to farm sustainably!
We are members of "Slow Food" www.slowfood.com an international association that celebrates good, clean, fair food.
